wisdom...

psalm 111: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.

I read yesturday that fearing the Lord is about reverence. It's about the right perspective. It's realising that God is God, in all his splendor, and - i am not. It's coming to the awe and blatant truth that we are very small in light of God.

2007 has certainly had its moments of awe in the knowledge and humbling experiences of God's magnificence and hugeness, compared with my tiny life. But these 'i am not' moments have only had big weight over the last year...and..as the psalm said; this is the place where wisdom starts..!

You know, I thought I thought and knew a fair bit, but I'm realising that I'm only starting. True learning comes with putting into practise our knowledge. and the whole process is wisdom outworked...wisdom to get to know whats right, and wisdom to know how to live it out. we really are small! But God chose the insignificant things and the foolish things of the world to display his wisdom and his glory...wow.

James says if you lack wisdom then ask God of it, for he will surely give it to you...but if the wisdom of God is foolishness to men - it's a dangerous question to ask him! one that needs wisdom in itself...

...over the next little while some decisions need to be made that are definately in need of some wisdom and guidance from God. stuff with the bizz is at a pivotal stage on what to do with funding etc. some decisions may have to be made that look foolish on the surface, but maybe wise when God's bigger picture is shown.

treading carefully.
