well,
the week and coincedental weekend for the Hope for Gloucester project was pretty cool. The acts of kindness went down well I think and the podcasts a great hit. The 5th Noise project was characteristically defiant against the weather forecast...shown brilliantly as yesterday was supposed to pour with rain, and pour it did - but not when our team showed up...the last guy came along, the rain stopped and the sun shone down for two hours, allowing us to complete all the projects across the city. God is so good. and always on our side...(of course, that is dependant on us being on his, first!)
The acts of generocity, not only to communities, but also - and mainly for my own experience - by massive offers of help and finding difficult solutions to help the weekend run well just continually wowed me. again and again. I was blown away that at times the whole thing could have been a shambles, but it turned out to be one of the best, yet again.
I'm in a little bit of turmoil with where it leaves me. It's sad to say, but I really think that could be the last one I take a leading role in. The whole decision was wrapped up nicely as long hair was shaved off piece by piece. It felt like a significant undercurrent of the main point of the act, a good symbol of cutting off that which is past and letting something loved go - anyway we ended up raising enough money to feed about 12000 people in the slum areas of the phillippines. That, plus people's staggering efforts and kindness, support and selfless hardwork has exausted me in a very positive way.
The whole thing was humbling to say the least.
And good to have a local and global perspective to hope, love and kindness in Christ.
The video below is kinda related...I'm surprised its made by mtv. But its a very powerful 'day in the life' contrast. Anyway i saw it today and liked it - so here it is.
There's a whole load of other stuff going on. Many 'thank yous' to write, office to sort ready for moving soon (!), priorities to sort and plans for the future to contemplate and pray about. All good. But better get to it.
