Welcome to the vicarage. The unsuspecting abode that could potentially house the beginnings of our little prayer community idea. After being sidelined once we heard the eventual plan is to demolish the house and redevelop the whole site, we let the whole thing rest a while. It's been a very busy time over the last few months, and strangely we're coming to a whole new phase of new beginnings, when the Vicarage idea pops up again. I kinda wander if God allowed it to simmer a bit whilst a whole load of things went splat...
City Gates is now not in existence. The house church network ended last week, with prayer and blessing, and thankfulness for the good that buoyed us, for the bad that shaped us.
The hope08 week and noise weekend, as said before, was brilliant but is now over and we look forward now towards the rest of the year.
So, the timing is excellent. There are a few things to consider, and some concerns. But hopefully we can overcome some of the hurdles placed before us. The house has been empty for about a year and is naturally run down. It challenges our ideals of 'quality of life' and how things should look and take shape. But there are some things that definately need attention, parts of the roof, some dampness, lack of heating upstairs etc...there's an excellent small hall but it may be too structurally unsound to use...so there's a cost involved, which needs to be weighed up with how long we'll actually use the space for...(maybe a year to 18 months)
But amazing to get the opportunity to have a look. The whole idea has taken off again on the enthusiasm of a local vicar here, who, on her own steam has talked to both bishops, the archdeacon and several other important people to see if we can use the house in the interim period from now until plans are afoot for the future development and they want to start knocking things down...which, could be sometime.
All very exciting.
But prayers are appreciated on all fronts. Thanks.

There's a long way to go and our heads are all still spinning. There's a lot to discern, but God has done a lot already.
