hope for Gloucester...

I walked into the office yesterday and these are some of the things I saw...

an ambulance screech past, kids not at school, a dirty ripped clothed addict bent on finding his morning fix, a lady in a suit on the phone; frantic about custody of her children, police investigating a shop that had been opened earlier than the proprietor had wished.

Gloucester needs hope.

Big time.

Which is interesting. Cos we have it. And we live here.

This week we're making a tiny dent in the city's need for glimpses of hope. We're spending the each day doing various acts of kindness - simple and ordinary deeds on mass, for an extraordinary impact. It's going well. The podcasts on the right are what various church leaders have done to give an inspiring thought for each day. A prayer room is open here at the office. All leading up to The Noise that's happening this weekend and a big family fun day at Gloucester Park.

Busy stuff, but all fun (if it comes together ok!), all worth it, all such a small gesture compared to what the church should be displaying, but its something, and God can use our small acts to do marvelous things.

Which is why, I'm also shaving off my hair. If you'd like to sponsor me please let me know. If I can make a difference with one of the most useless things I have, I wonder what I could do with the gifts and talents, the thoughts, the body, the dreams that I have.

The money will pay for a 1 tonne of rice for street children in the Philippines. more on that later.
