day in Bath

Yesterday I took the train down to Bath for the start of a three day 'prayer school' led by Bath City Church, with a few 24-7 leaders doing much of the teaching.

It was a great day. And not just because Bath is a rather lovely place, filled with lovely people, but because the train journey down was a great chance to rest, think and pray.

Brilliant to catch up with some classic people, (I found myself in the 'leaders lounge' area and ended up eating the beautiful soup too, perfect) along with brilliant teaching, centered on the Lords prayer - or more specifically on the first two words: 'our'...'father'...I found the day refreshing, with a renewed sense of God's love and an inspired sense of the scandal of it all - Jesus reveals the scandalous love of our father in heaven, to whom we give our lives. Phil Togwell said something along the lines of 'to pray for the sake of God's glory [and not just our comfort], is to breathe in the contagion of the Kingdom and life of God and therefore become infectious for him.'

Prayer is where we catch and become a virus - a contagion of God's love, an infection of the new humanity.

Planning on heading down tomorrow for the last day. Looking forward to it.
